Head of German as a Foreign Language

The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong's leading international schools with 200 faculty and staff providing dual language education to a multinational student body of approximately 1,300 students. We are inviting applications from experienced and qualified candidates for the following position commencing August 2018.

HEAD OF GERMAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
SECONDARY DEPARTMENT (ENGLISH STREAM)

The Head of German as a Foreign Language will be required to teach throughout the English Secondary Department, and to prepare students for the UK I/GCSE and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Students are also prepared for the Deutsche Sprachdiplom examinations.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is dedicated to enabling each child to achieve the highest possible standards. As Head of Subject s/he will provide leadership and coordination to a team of 5 experienced teachers of German as a Foreign Language. S/he will be responsible for delivering and developing the taught German language programme within the English Secondary Department. The Head of German as a Foreign Language is also expected to take a leading role in promoting the use of German throughout the English Stream, including contributing to the planning of our established programme of overseas trips. Experience in an international context is desirable.
