We are looking for a Head of Girls PE in a school which offers comprehensive CPD, exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for our teachers. 

The main purpose of this post is to achieve outstanding outcomes at KS3/4 in the curriculum and wider curricular offer within the sports department. We offer the following seasonal sports within the curriculum or as extra-curricular activities – Athletics, basketball, cricket, dance, football, gymnastics, health-related fitness, hockey, netball, rounders, softball, trampolining, rugby, fencing, badminton and tennis. 

The Head of Girls PE will have responsibility for KS3/4 curriculum development and delivery for girls PE and work closely with the Head of PE on curriculum, teaching & learning projects. This is an excellent development role for a member of staff with proven success as a physical educational practitioner. There is also an opportunity to work with the Head of PE and SLT to introduce GCSE PE into the Key Stage 4 curriculum.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum to Key Stage 4.
  • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments.
  • An understanding and experience of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement.
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively.
  • Experience of the use of student results analysis to inform practice and target improvement.
  • Experience of leading a tutor group.
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement.
  • Energy and enthusiasm.

Twyford CE High School, Acton

Twyford CE High School was set up by the LDBS in 1981. The school has an excellent reputation and is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2012) and SIAMS (April 2017). It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a large and highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas. Since its inception the school has grown considerably and now admits around 975 students aged 11 to 16, and an additional 500 students to the Sixth Form.

The Twyford Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for all Trust schools. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum which has been devised by staff within the four schools. The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a compact CoE MAT which comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing.
