Who Are We?

Ursuline High School, Wimbledon, is an OFSTED outstanding, voluntary-aided, comprehensive high school for Roman Catholic girls from 11-18 under the Trusteeship of the Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark. The school is graded by Ofsted as being ‘outstanding’ and as Grade 1 by the Diocesan S48 Inspection.  We are a lead school for the Government’s new Trailblazers programme for Mental Health.

Merton schools are top in England for Progress 8, the Ursuline has been in the top 5% for the past few years and has a tradition of academic excellence, addressing individual needs and service in the spirit of St Angela. The curriculum equips girls with skills for the modern, global world and develops them as independent and critical learners and confident communicators.

At the heart of the school is its distinctive Catholic ethos, which in turn is supported by the excellent relationships which exist between staff and students. The  History Department is located with the Humanities Faculty. The department is a consistently evolving department in the school and one that is united by a strong and supportive team spirit. Other subjects in the faculty include Geography and Government and Politics. Staff are all experienced and have an excellent work ethic. The Department is well resourced with excellent  facilities and  is committed to the continuous improvement of resources and to the development of staff skills through CPD sessions, in order to maintain the outstanding levels of teaching and learning in in History.

Who are we looking for?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher to move our well established and successful History Department forward. We welcome applications from staff who have proven examination success both at GCSE and A Level and can continue to lead and inspire the Department.

The Business and Economics department is a flourishing department located alongside our Computing department in our Dorothy Kazel building.

Applicants should be committed to working within the Catholic ethos of the school.
