Head of Junior School (from September 2018)
St Edmund’s School Canterbury is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Head of Junior School in September 2018. This exciting opportunity has arisen due to the promotion of the current post-holder to the role of Head of St Edmund’s School (3-18).
We are seeking someone with vision, energy and a proven track record in education management to continue the School’s recent successful development and to work closely with the Governors’ and Executive Group to implement the strategic plan for the School’s future.
St Edmund’s Junior School is an historic day and boarding co-educational school where a family atmosphere is fostered, individuals are valued, and pupils enjoy a rich academic and cultural experience. Set within beautiful grounds overlooking the city and Cathedral of Canterbury, we are a happy, vibrant and mutually supportive community. With approximately 180 pupils ranging from age 7 to 13, the school places an emphasis on academic rigour, creativity and broad extra-curricular involvement. Our pupils include the Choristers of Canterbury Cathedral.
The Head is responsible for the leadership and management of all staff and the day-to-day running of the Junior School. Supported by a strong leadership team covering academic, pastoral and safeguarding functions, the Head must be able to manage diverse challenges while providing effective direction and leadership.
We pride ourselves on the warm, nurturing culture of the School and staff share a deep commitment to supporting the individual needs of pupils. The Head must embody these characteristics and also possess stamina, mental agility and an approachable, positive outlook.
St Edmund’s is an equal opportunities employer, committed to the safeguarding and promoting of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and satisfactory employment references.
