A superb opportunity for an inspirational graduate to lead the teaching of Mandarin and play a key role in our diverse Modern Languages Department.
Using your skills and experience in teaching Mandarin you will teach at all levels from Year 9 to Sixth Form, promoting cultural awareness and developing pupil’s communication skills. Mandarin is being studied by an increasing number of Uppinghamians and there is much for a new head of department to build on. Learning Mandarin takes on even more importance to our pupils now that Uppingham has committed to opening schools in China during the course of the next six years.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mandarin at all levels, catering for beginners as well as pupils with some prior experience of the language.
Facilities for our committed team of 13 specialists in the purpose-built Language Centre are superb and our exciting Modern Languages Department has a wide extra-curricular programme. This includes social evenings, exchanges, study visits and visiting speakers from international business and overseas institutions, all with the aim of emphasising languages in the real world.
If you are a strong, dynamic character with excellent knowledge of Mandarin, a good honours degree, effective classroom management skills and an ability to build appropriate rapport with pupils we would be delighted to hear from you.
