The British School Kathmandu (TBS) is looking to recruit dynamic and creative teachers, committed to the pursuit of excellence, for our exciting and unique school. Our latest BSO OFSTED report found TBS to be ‘an excellent school: [which] provides an outstanding quality of education and demonstrates an exceptional flexibility in meeting the learning and personal needs of its students’. Established in 1966, The British School Kathmandu (TBS) provides for c.580 children aged 3 to 18 from approximately 40 countries. The school is oversubscribed and is extremely well regarded in the wider community. We were awarded TES Strategic Initiative of the Year 2016 for our community work in Dhading as well as SLT of the Year, Community Initiative of the Year and the overall British International School of the Year 2017. Staff have collaboratively developed a TBS learning policy and we adapt the English National Curriculum alongside the International Primary Curriculum to offer a creative and flexible curriculum that leads to Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels at Key Stages 4 & 5. The School is a founder member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and a fully accredited member of the Confederation of British International Schools (COBIS).
All students and staff are committed to supporting the wider community through our wide-ranging TBS community programmes. All teachers also support and contribute actively to our cross-curricular days and weeks, our diverse programme of extra-curricular activities, and the PSHE programme. Secondary teachers will be expected to teach their subject to A Level and to prepare students for world class universities. We do have high expectations and teachers must be willing to work hard and to live up to our ‘excellence at the top of the world’ motto.
The successful candidates will have recent UK/International experience, be highly motivated, well organised and possess UK qualifications (or equivalent internationally recognised qualifications). An understanding of the benefits and challenges of living in a developing country is an advantage.
