The Role:

As Head of Mathematics, you will lead a talented and dedicated team of maths teachers, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the department.

You will have the opportunity to shape the direction of mathematics education within our school, ensuring that every learner reaches their full potential and develops a love for the subject. This role is ideal for an exceptional maths teacher with a passion for leadership, eager to take the next step in their career and make a significant impact in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

● Lead and manage the mathematics department, providing guidance, support and professional development opportunities for staff

● Develop and implement an innovative and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners, regardless of ability

● Monitor and evaluate the progress of learners, implementing interventions where necessary to ensure every student achieves their academic goals

● Foster positive relationships with learners, parents and colleagues while promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, high expectations and modelling our school values

● Contribute to whole-school initiatives and collaborate with other departments to promote cross-curricular learning opportunities

Requirements:

● Qualified teacher status (QTS) and a relevant degree in mathematics or a related field

● Proven track record of delivering high-quality mathematics education, with a commitment to raising attainment and inspiring learners

● Some leadership experience, whether in a formal leadership role or through leading projects or initiatives within a department

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents

● A passion for education and a dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Premises

Wapping High School is be located at 153 Commercial Road, London, E1 2DA, 15 minutes walk from the centre of Wapping. This former office block has been extensively renovated and reconfigured. The cutting-edge redesign is in line with Wapping High School’s commitment to provide personalised teaching methodologies to engage learning and develop inquisitive minds. Conversion of empty office space for education is successful and widespread in other parts of the world. The building includes specialist facilities for science, dance, drama, music and performance and a 5th floor roof garden with spectacular views across London.
