New College Durham Academies Trust comprises of two large Academies, Consett Academy and North Durham Academy, located some six miles apart in North West Durham. New College Durham, is our lead sponsor and both Academies are located in multi million pound new builds, offering unrivalled state of the art facilities for our students and communities in Consett and Stanley. Whilst we want the successful applicant to join us as soon as they can, we are willing to wait for the right candidate!
Head of Maths (Consett Academy) & Head of Maths (North Durham Academy)
L8-L12 £46,798 - £51,637 pa starting salary negotiable for right candidate
We currently require two exceptional individuals – each to lead a nominated Academy in helping the Assistant Director for Learning & Progress to provide the professional leadership, strategic direction and management of this crucial core subject.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate they have the capacity to lead and manage a large department, whilst simultaneously driving forward continuous improvement. Applicants will have high aspirations and a proven track record of delivering consistently good (and often outstanding) teaching with a resulting positive impact on student attainment. An ability to show how you have contributed to whole school development would also be advantageous.
You will lead on raising student outcomes and standards at all key stages and participate in delivering improvement strategies where identified. It would be a distinct advantage if you are able to teach to AS/A level standard.
Working with the Assistant Director, the successful applicants will be influential in shaping their respective academy’s Maths development plan.
For the right candidate, the above post offers excellent potential for career development and will provide invaluable experience on which to build a platform for further promotion.
As well as excellent communication skills, you must have high expectations of staff and students. You will consistently model excellent practice and have student achievement and progress at the forefront of your practice.
