Co-educational boarding and day school (HMC)
1000+ pupils (3 to 18) 200 in Sixth Form
Head of Media
Royal Russell is an HMC/IAPS co-educational school with over 1000 pupils between the ages of 3 and 18, situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills near Croydon. We have over 150 boarding students in the Senior School, and are proud of our day and boarding facilities that rank amongst the best in the South of England. Our pupils, parents and staff experience a warm and friendly environment with strong pastoral care for every pupil alongside a comprehensive co-curricular and enrichment programme. We aim to build on this alongside improving academic success to continue to be the family school of choice in South London. The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) has recently judged the school as ‘excellent’ in all areas.
Media GCSE was added to our curriculum offer in September 2017 to complement our strong A level provision making Media an exceptionally popular choice within our student body and one of the strengths of this successful and ambitious school. A level results are consistently amongst the highest within the year group with our students attaining in excess of 80% A*/B grades. Many of these students choose to continue their study of the subject at Higher Education and subsequently pursue a media-related career. As a result of an internal promotion, we are looking for a qualified and experienced full-time teacher of Media to lead and manage this dynamic department. The department has strong cross-curricular links throughout the School to which the Head of Department would be expected to contribute.
A willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular programme and support the pastoral life of our school is essential.
The Royal Russell pay scale which is above SNS includes a generous allowance for suitably qualified and experienced staff. Allowances are available for specific pastoral and academic responsibilities.
We offer excellent benefits which include free lunch, free car parking, use of on-site tennis courts, gym and swimming pool. Staff are also entitled to 50% discount on School fees (pro-rata for part time/term time staff).
