We are seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic teacher of French and German to create innovative and exciting learning opportunities and to lead our enthusiastic MFL faculty. You will be able to plan, deliver and assess lessons across all aspects of the KS3 and KS4 MFL curriculum as well as create and deliver a successful vision for the faculty and lead and support colleagues in realising this. We are an incredibly ambitious academy located in the beautiful surroundings of the Fowey Estuary in Cornwall. We do things differently, on purpose and aim to be the school of choice in the local area.

Successful candidates will be able to show that they not only have a clear understanding of possible barriers to learning, but that they know how to select and use appropriate strategies to overcome these, especially for students with SEND and for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This post is suitable for both an experienced Head of MFL and an accomplished teacher who has not yet had a leadership position. Subject specific training and mentoring will be provided by the academy to the successful candidate. The applicant appointed will display a love of learning, a joy for teaching and a passion for sharing foreign languages and culture with our students and also our staff.
Fowey River Academy embraces the use of new technologies, providing 1:1 iPad devices for each child and an iPad and MacBook for each member of staff. Our MFL department is proud to offer French, German and Spanish to GCSE level and we would welcome any other modern, or classical, language that the candidate can offer.

About Fowey River Academy
Fowey River Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Fowey, Cornwall. There are approximately 684 students at the school, between the ages of 11-16.
Fowey River Academy was established in 1692 as Fowey Free School, opening to 30 pupils from low income families. The school has since been a boarding and grammar school throughout the years. In 2014, it received academy status, changing its name from Fowey Community College to Fowey River Academy.
