Job overview
St. Paul's was founded in 1926 and was the first school in South America to receive accreditation from the UK government as a British School Oversees. Fully coeducational, with about 1,000 pupils, aged from 3 to 18, it is a school with history and tradition, but which embraces innovation, contemporary values and the latest in digital learning. Pauleans are members of a caring community and are supported in their learning by the best in pastoral care. It is our aim to discover the passion and talents of every pupil, and create the right environment to develop these. Pupils leave us confident, assured and well prepared for an exciting life, and a multitude of opportunities, often at top universities both in Brazil and abroad. Pauleans are many things, but most of all they are themselves. It is this which prepares them for the unknown and an exciting life in the world beyond school.
We are a world-class school, and an international member of HMC and IAPS, and a member of COBIS and the LAHC. We are proud of our local, national and international reputation and we constantly strive to improve the opportunities for our pupils and staff. Our recent BSO inspection judged us as a leading British School overseas, and you can download the report from our website.
Constantly seeking to improve our facilities, the school has undertaken an almost continuous programme of building works over the past 20 years as it has gradually grown; this includes extensive refurbishment and extension of the original school building, the creation of a sixth form centre and library and in August 2014 we opened our multimillion real underground state of the art sports centre. In February 2016 we inaugurated our new academic centre, which houses a learning resources suite, music and arts centre, music recording facilities, and 10 modern science laboratories. This exceptional facility places teaching and learning at the heart of the school.

General
The school is seeking a highly motivated, inspirational and talented practitioner to lead our modern foreign languages department, building on and securing the future achievements of our pupils in their language learning.

In addition to teaching duties, teachers also act as a tutor to a group of 12 - 15 Senior School pupils. Being a tutor is a significant part of a teacher's responsibilities at St. Paul's, both in terms of time devoted to it and its contribution towards the successful running of the school, the happiness of the pupils and, hence, their attainment.
Participation in the co-curricular enrichment programme will also be expected.

The offer of the role would be made subject to receipt of satisfactory references, proof of relevant qualifications, identification checks and other safeguarding checks, an overseas check if appropriate and a pre-placement medical assessment. Proof of entitlement to work in Brazil is also required where necessary.
