Are you a dynamic and dedicated Music teacher who inspires students? Would you like to lead a department of talented music teachers to help our students excel?

The Role

The successful candidate will need to be innovative, dynamic and highly motivated teacher to take on the leadership of the Music department.  You will be leading a talented, hardworking and supportive team of teachers, but you will also have the ability to develop the curriculum moving forward. Teachers that are passionate about their subject motivate students therefore you will need to show a passion for Music and an interest in engaging all students in developing a love of your subject. The successful candidate will be an excellent musician and classroom practitioner with a keen interest in developing their leadership skills and innovative pedagogical practices.   

The Music Department

The Music department is made up of three members of staff, the Head of Department and two experienced and talented teachers who have additional responsibilities across the school. They have been well led and the curriculum is interesting and engaging for our students. The recent addition of music technology has been particularly well received by students in Year 9.

The Candidate

We are seeking a candidate who will be ambitious for our students who is keen to continue to develop the Music Department, bringing new ideas and skills to the team. A passion for influencing curriculum design and innovative practice, and for identifying and developing student potential is key. A keen desire to make a difference and a belief that a good school can and does make a significant difference to students' life chances and achievement, including the wider skills needed in life.

You will:

• have a passion for music which is evident in your teaching
• demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students
• have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning
• be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement
• possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents
• demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching
