Start date: September 2019
Contract type: Full Time
Salary: MPS / UPS + TLR2A
Contract term: Permanent
Suitable for NQTs: No

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Music, who is a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join a highly successful Performing Arts Department.

The person appointed will be responsible for the Music Department and will be required to teach Music at KS3 and GCSE level and it is essential that they take an active role in the many and varied extra-curricular activities. Experience of other Performing Arts disciplines such as Drama and Dance is also desirable, as staff may be required to teach across the Performing Arts Department.

We require a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students. We are also seeking to appoint somebody with a good sense of humour and one who enjoys teamwork. These are hugely important qualities in terms of collaborative working, but also in getting the very best out of our students.

In return, we offer an outstanding learning environment, working with students who are typically above national average attainment at start point in Year 7. We offer excellent professional development opportunities and a range of facilities to help with teaching and learning.

Standards of behaviour are very good indeed. We achieve this because of a very strong team work ethic in pastoral management, but also because we do not tolerate poor choices without proportionate consequences. As a new member of staff, you will find the school to be an extremely welcoming environment to teach in.

This is a superb opportunity to come and join a school where you will succeed and see our students make great progress over their time with us.

The Academy is over-subscribed, achieves high academic standards and has a reputation as a caring community school. In the relatively recent inspection in February 2016, OFSTED graded the school as ‘Good’ in all categories and hence ‘Good’ overall.

The school converted to Academy status on 1st February 2012. It is on the western side of Huddersfield, one mile from the M62.  The road system makes travel to Leeds, Bradford and the whole Yorkshire region very easy.
