Job overview

If you’ve got the talent, we’ve got all the support you need to become our Head of PE.

Becoming Head of PE in an Outwood Academy is a big step. So we’re ready to give you all the support you need to become a great leader and take our achievements to the next level. From your first day, you’ll have a very experienced mentor – one of our Associate Directors or Director from the Outwood Family of Schools – to guide you and encourage you to grow personally and professionally.

But that’s just the beginning. Every member of the team benefits from two hours’ CPD each week, along with opportunities to access courses through the Outwood Institute of Education. What’s more, we have fifteen secondary academies within our Family, meaning you can build your experience across multiple schools and have the opportunity to work with other Heads of PE.

You’ll find Outwood Academy Shafton a warm and welcoming school, where students love to learn and every member of the community feels valued and engaged. We operate at the heart of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, so there’s plenty of scope to build your career across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, North East and South Yorkshire and move into the highest levels of leadership.

So whether you’re a current Head or TLR holder for PE or an ambitious teacher looking for the next step up, it’s time we talked.

Please contact Cara Ackroyd Associate Principal, on 01226 717730 for an informal discussion, or to arrange a visit to the academy.

Application is by submission of a completed application form. Application forms and relevant job specification and job description are available on the Outwood Academies website. Only applications completed on an original Outwood application form will be considered; incomplete application forms and CV’s will not be considered. To request an application pack if you do not have internet access please call 01226 717730.

Closing date: Midday on Friday, 18 May 2018.

Interview date: w/c 21 May 2018.

The Outwood Grange Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

Part of the Outwood Family since 2015, we are delighted that after its latest inspection, Ofsted noted that ‘staff morale is high and pupils are positive about their learning experiences’ with us.

We are focused on giving students the best life chances by creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased attainment, achievement and social and emotional development. We want learning to be loved and valued by everyone and we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy lifestyles and creates the self-supporting citizens of the future. We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential

We are proud to have won numerous awards as a school and to have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, in addition to being an IQM Centre of Excellence, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us.

We believe we are on a journey to Outstanding. Help to take us to the next level.
