About the role

The Head of Performing Arts is a crucial member of the Middle Leadership Team. They lead the strategic and operational workings of their department and oversee the delivery of the Juilliard Programmes at NAIS. Join our fast-paced international environment, and you will deliver and manage UK National Curriculum including I/GSCE and The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.  You will challenge your students and department to set ambitious targets for themselves and seek out and implement innovative teaching practices to enhance the student experience and outcomes within performing arts. The role requires you to teach Drama to GCSE Level and to oversee the introduction of dance. You will also have the responsibility for directing the annual school production and overseeing all school performances.

About you

Able to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a degree preferably in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers. You will have a passion for supporting children in performing arts activities which take place beyond the school day as part of the extra-curricular offer.

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement and personal investment within the classroom. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for China, including a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two years teaching experience.

Selection Process

The closing date for application is Friday December 21st. First stage interviews will be conducted by Skype or telephone and final interviews will take place at the Nord Anglia Education Recruitment Event in central London in the week commencing 21st January 2019 (alternative arrangements will be made for candidates who cannot attend in person).
