Head of Physics

TLR 2b (current value £4531 p.a.)

Required for September 2019 (or earlier if available)

“This outstanding school exemplifies the very best in educational provision”*

Judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, Yardleys is a heavily oversubscribed 11-16 multi-ethnic stand-alone academy with 900 students on roll. The School is ambitious and well managed with an inspiring learning environment. Teachers benefit from generous non-contact time, weekly training and smaller than average class sizes.

The collaborative ethos which permeates all parts of the school is summed up by our motto “Working together for a better future”. This results in a highly supportive community, which allied with excellent student behaviour and a well organised school, allows teachers to focus on their teaching and improving their practice.

We wish to appoint an ambitious, creative and dynamic Head of Physics who is keen to develop their leadership and management skills in this key curriculum area. The Science department is a leading area of the school and works effectively as a cohesive team, continuously sharing resources and striving to maximise student potential. In collaboration with the Head of Faculty you will make strategic decisions based on data analysis to ensure the success of all pupils in this solidly performing department.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team is vital, as is the ability to coach and mentor colleagues, sharing ideas and leading by example. The ideal candidate will share our belief that every child is capable of success with the right support and be able to deliver high quality, engaging lessons and training to promote Physics.

Yardleys offers a commitment to professional development opportunities, an excellent induction programme, a healthcare package, well behaved students who are keen to learn and state of the art facilities.
