Sherrardswood School, founded in 1928, is a highly regarded and successful independent co-educational day school with approximately 320 pupils aged 2 to 18. Our location and beautiful grounds provide the ideal setting for creating a secure and happy atmosphere, which encourages each child to develop their gifts and unlock their potential.
The Head of Prep oversees the Early Years, Foundation Stage, Pre Prep and the Prep School up to Year Six. Our Pre-School gives an early introduction to learning in a school environment providing our pupils with a head start for when they join our Reception class. Our Prep children enjoy and benefit from an early introduction to specialist teaching, working with our older students, as well as our wide range of extra-curricular learning opportunities.
We place great emphasis on providing a supportive and caring educational environment and pastoral care is a key element of life at Sherrardswood. With small classes throughout, teachers are able to educate, encourage and nurture pupils on an individual level and help in the development of their knowledge, character and personality.
Sherrardswood pupils benefit from excellent academic achievement, within a broad and varied curriculum, the foundations for which we provide in our Prep school.
The school works with a forward looking and experienced Governing body, with a wide range of skills from within the academic, financial and commercial sectors, as well as a very supportive and active parent body.
The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, a fine-grained attention to detail and a keen thoughtfulness. Above all, the candidate will be committed to ‘rolling-up their sleeves’ and ‘getting stuck-in’ in order to ensure the very best for Sherrardswood, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, together with the Headmistress and her Assistant Heads.
