Job overview

Quite possibly the greatest opportunity of your career is awaiting you; the chance to design and shape innovative and creative policy and practice in a brand new all-through academy as the founding head of primary and key member of the senior leadership team.

King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) and King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO) are looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative Head of Primary with an excellent track record, to play an intrinsic role in our brand new all-through academy in Bracknell Forest. KAB opened in a superb new building in September 2018 with 120 Year 7, and will grow year on year to a roll of over 1800 students, aged 3-18. The primary phase at KAB (2 FE), and KAO, a brand new 1 FE primary school a mile away, open in September 2019 with nursery and YR in KAB and YR, 1 and 2 in KAO. They will also then grow year on year. KAO will be run as an intrinsic part of KAB with both schools sharing the same values, curriculum, opportunities and expectations of excellence.

The successful candidate will have day to day responsibility for all aspects of primary provision; developing outstanding practice in everything we do. As a core member of the Leadership Team, they will work with all staff, leading the ‘whatever it takes’ ethos to enable every young person at KAB and KAO to thrive.

We are looking for someone who;

• Has a proven track record in securing strong outcomes for all students

• Demonstrates optimism and positivity and has a strong track record of successfully developing staff

• Is creative and resilient and effective in enabling staff to be successful

• Is keen to work in partnership and collaboration with other schools within KGA and beyond

• Is innovative and keen to develop educational practices to ensure the highest outcomes for students

The Head of Primary will initially have responsibility for the operational management and performance of both KAB and KAO and will benefit from the guidance and support of the Executive Principal. The successful candidate will play a key role in the strategic leadership of the whole academy.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to and evidence of success in development of the wider aspects of school life. Applicants should be excellent classroom teachers in their own right; as well as being able to work as part of a team, get stuck in and inspire all staff and students to excel.

As a new and rapidly growing school, this is a rare and exciting opportunity for a skilful leader who can bring creativity, innovation and dynamism.

KAB and KAO are part of the King’s Group Academies MAT led by a team of former and current Ofsted ‘outstanding’ head teachers. Please note link to King’s Group Academies Vision and Mission - https://kingsacademies.uk/about-us/vision-and-mission/

King's Academy Binfield is a new all-through school within The Kings Group Academies.

Our mission is to provide high quality education within a small community of outstanding schools in the UK that will deliver a transformative learning experience to all our students within the context of a global community of schools.

KGA has at its core the pursuit of the very highest standards both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all students can exceed their expectations no matter what their prior attainment and experience. In a KGA academy no student will be labelled, we will treat them all as intelligent individuals. Through our ethos, our extended curriculum, our entrepreneurial approach and international dimension, we will ensure students develop into confident, rounded individuals, equipped for life in an ever changing world.

We pride ourselves on listening and responding to the needs of our partner schools and guarantee any school within KGA the opportunity to help shape the future development of our MAT. In a King’s Group Academy, pupils will be able to achieve their personal ambitions and academic goals, with the added advantage and motivation of working alongside peers from other King’s schools around the world.

At KGA our aim is to build clusters of excellence, blending the best of British education with the experience and success gained in our international King’s Group schools. We see staff as our most valuable resource and our innovative approach to CPD enables them to fulfil their career potential, as well as prepare our pupils for a successful future.

King’s Group was founded nearly 50 years ago by Sir Roger Fry and includes nine outstanding schools both abroad and in the UK. With this excellent foundation, King’s Group Academies has been invited by the DfE to develop a MAT and use the expertise of our team to build and provide ongoing support to small networks of outstanding academies.

We share a determination to make a positive difference to the future of our young people, their families and the wider community, as well as to the careers of our staff. This is your invitation to join us.
