The Board of Governors of British School Muscat is currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and effective school leader to become its new Head of Primary School from August 2019. British School Muscat (BSM) is a not-for-profit, co-educational British International Day School that provides a comprehensive and balanced education to a mix of approximately 1235 English speaking expatriate students.

The vision of the school is to be one of the leading British international schools in the world.

The school is accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), British Schools in The Middle East (BSME), HMC and is regularly inspected by British School Overseas most recently in April 2017 when it was judged "Outstanding with exemplary features".

Person Specification

Candidates must be

  • Able to create an environment of high support and high challenge
  • Able to expect high levels of autonomy and accountability
  • Able to serve students, staff and parents with humility
  • Fully capable and comfortable with tackling difficult conversations with both staff and parents
  • Fully committed to excellence
  • Able to lead, motivate, support and provide clear educational direction and thereby raise standards
  • Fully experienced in a leadership role within a Primary School delivering English national curriculum
  • Strong in pedagogical knowledge, understanding and skills
  • In possession of time management, organisational and delegation skills and the ability to manage large workloads
  • Able to formulate aims, policies and plans, and monitor, evaluate and review the impact of these
  • Fully appreciative and committed to the BSM visions, values and aims
  • Sensitive to cultural differences
  • Able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
