The Directors of St Mary’s College are looking to appoint an experienced, motivated and inspirational Head of Religious Education to lead this core curriculum area and join our outstanding school. We are seeking an excellent classroom practitioner with proven leadership skills to lead our highly successful Religious Education department to the highest level.
The successful applicant will be joining a vibrant and high performing team in an outstanding 11 – 19 school. Having recently completed the process of joining a new Trust and as a Teaching School this is a particularly exciting time for the College. Religious Education has been one of the highest performing subjects across the school over recent years. The Head of Religious Education takes responsibility for the development of the curriculum, the monitoring of student progress and teaching and learning within the subject alongside being a key figure in leading and upholding the Catholic ethos across the school. The candidate should be a practising Catholic and have the ability to teach and contribute to the KS5 curriculum.
OFSTED inspected St Mary’s College and judged that:

The outstanding care, guidance and support, good teaching and excellent curriculum combine to enable all students, regardless of their academic ability, to make outstanding progress. St Mary’s College was awarded the World Class Schools Quality Mark in 2017 and is now one of two ‘Lead World Class Schools’ in the UK.

St Mary’s College currently ranks in the top 2% of schools in the country for student progress.
Diocesan Inspection 2015 judged the College to be outstanding in all areas.
