Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol with a prestigious history in rugby. We are proud of our international sporting reputation, including our provision of players to the highest levels in both men’s and women’s rugby.

We are looking for a talented and motivational rugby coach to lead all aspects of our school’s rugby delivery, in order to ensure that all our young people have the best possible experience of the sport. The Head of Rugby will report to the Assistant Head (Co-curricular) and lead a large and diverse team of coaches.

Sport is at the heart of the Colston’s commitment to holistic education, where we provide opportunities across a range of sports. The major sports currently provided for pupils are hockey and cricket, with boys taught rugby and girls netball. We support a number of elite athletes in these and other sports, offering the Elite Tennis Programme and a wide range of additional sports and sporting activities.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding coach, great communicator, strategic thinker and will value the opportunity to develop their management skills in this important role at Colston’s School. This role will require energy, determination, commitment and the ability to work in, as well as lead a team. We welcome applications from coaches and teachers from a variety of backgrounds who can meet our commitment to school rugby.

This permanent post is offered from mid to late August 2021, working during term time, with an expectation of weekend fixtures over this period and some sports tours during school holidays.

The School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities onsite, including 7 rugby pitches and a fitness suite. The school is easily accessible from the M32 and has approximately 800 students aged from 3 to 18.

In our recent ISI report the school was judged excellent in all areas; raw examination results are consistently good, value-add scores are high and we have waiting lists in most year groups.
