The Garden is a very special specialist school for children with autism, with a track record of outstanding excellence and a bespoke, child-centred curriculum. We have 150 pupils, ranging from 4 to 16 years old, and a large multi-disciplinary team of 140 dedicated members of staff 

with specialist skills and expertise who work in collaboration with class teams to support pupils’ development. Our school has two successive ‘Outstanding’ ratings from Ofsted, and we are committed to do even better. We are looking to expand gradually, opening a new site with Sixth Form provision in the near future and, in the longer term, a nursery school.

This is a very significant leadership role on the road to Headship. Reporting to the Executive Headteacher, you will be responsible for the direct operational leadership and management of the school, with a strong focus on teaching and learning resources and delivery, safeguarding, and maintaining and developing the quality of provision and progress through detailed continuous evaluation and quality assurance. The role has a high 'in school' profile that requires combining strategy and management with a high level of visibility with staff and parents/carers.

We are looking for an outstanding senior leader and manager with a track record of success in delivering first class education provision, achievement and standards in ASD in a special school. You will have experience of leading others through change, setting and evaluating performance standards, building and developing teams, and managing financial budgets and resources effectively. Equally important will be your passion and enthusiasm for education and children’s learning, determination to make a positive difference and commitment to continuous improvement.
