Job overview

St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School, Norwich was opened as a new school, on the site of the former junior school, in September 2013. It has a religious foundation and very strong Christian ethos.

The school is located on a large, open site, on the outskirts of Norwich city centre and caters for boys and girls aged 4-11 years of age. There are fourteen classes (two per year group) and approximately 420 children on roll.

We were a founding member in April 2016 of the St John the Baptist Catholic Multi Academy Trust and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape both the school and contribute to the future success of the Trust.

The family of St. Francis of Assisi is a school community following in the footsteps of Christ and built on the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.

St Francis is a highly supportive school, rated Good by OFSTED and we are looking for a practicing Catholic leader to lead our journey to Outstanding. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their career rapidly as the successful candidate will be joining a strong Multi Academy Trust committed to staff development and a school which benefits from excellent facilities and resources.

The Directors and Local Governors are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, ethos driven and capable senior leader to take the helm of our happy and high achieving school. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success as a middle or senior leader and will commit themselves to further improving Teaching and Learning in St Francis of Assisi.

We welcome applications from candidates at the cusp of school Leadership, as well as strong established leaders. The successful Head of School will have the extensive support of an experienced and successful Executive Headteacher, with further opportunities within the Multi Academy Trust on offer as they develop.

Applications are sought from practising Catholics who will develop further our Catholic ethos.

For an application form and further details, please visit our MAT website. Preliminary visits to the school are welcome by arrangement with the retiring Head of School Mrs Fran Ludden, or the Executive Headteacher Mrs Kim Payne.

Closing date for applications: Monday 5th March 2018 at midday.

Interview dates: Thursday and Friday 15th and 16th March 2018.

Application forms should be returned to recruitment@sjbcmat.org.uk or by post to John Eady, Operations Manager, St John the Baptist CMAT, Surrey Street, Norwich, NR1 3PB.

Applicants should be practicing Catholics supportive of our ethos. St John the Baptist CMAT welcomes applications from members of minority ethnic communities and those with disabilities. The MAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You will be subject to DBS checks along with relevant employment checks.
