Job overview
The Trustees are looking to recruit to the post of
Head of School
Springboard Project
L15 – L19
£62,561 - £69,022
Commencing – April 2023
Part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, the Springboard Project, based in Oldham town centre, provides high quality, innovative alternative educational experiences for pupils and students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties) across the 14-19 age range.
The young people attending the Springboard Project experience a personalised approach to their learning. They are taught by fully qualified specialist teachers, industry experts and support staff sensitive to their needs, providing a nurturing and stimulating environment. It is a unique place where pupils are nurtured and developed to encourage independence and skills for life, and their social, emotional and mental health needs are at the forefront of our work.
Due to the complex nature of our students, high levels of emotional and physical resilience are needed in dealing with challenging behaviour. However, the knowledge that our work is making a positive impact in helping the young people to grow and work towards independence brings great reward.
It has 66 pupils/students on roll with this expected to increase to 80 pupils/students in September 2023 . The school delivers a highly personalised curriculum and offers qualifications up to GCSE level. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide the excellent leadership which will allow the school to achieve its vision of ‘Creating Meaningful Futures’ for its young people.
The school is currently in the inspection window for its first inspection and the new Head of School, with the support of the Executive Headteacher and the Trust will lead the further improvements required. You will join and be leading a passionate and innovative team with a strong ‘can do’ attitude and commitment to continually strive to improve the outcomes for our youngsters.
The school is part of New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, a group of schools, colleges and related organisations which provide education for children and young people up to the age of 30 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. While each setting operates discreetly, they have a shared passion to improve the life opportunities available to the young people once they leave school. They work very closely together to achieve this and ensure that together they best meet the needs of individual students. A culture of mutual support and teamwork permeates the organisation.
This is an exciting time for the school as it continues to develop and enhance all aspects of its provision. If you share this determination and ambition, it offers an outstanding opportunity to develop in a forward thinking and outward looking organisation. Your continued development will also be a priority and you will receive excellent support and advice from a talented team of colleagues who will invest in your professional learning.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate recent, successful, and sustained impact as a senior leader along with experience of working with children and young people with SEMH. You will have a positive attitude which will inspire, enthuse and motivate students, staff and the wider school community. You must be confident, approachable and have the skills to work collaboratively, build effective teams and also to be a present and visible leader who leads by example. Above all, you will share the school’s vision of ‘Creating Meaningful Futures’ for its students and ensuring they are safe and happy.
New Bridge Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the DBS
