We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, outstanding practitioner to join the extended leadership team and lead the Science department. We are keen to consider applications from ambitious and successful Science teachers whose long term ambition is to move into senior management.
The successful candidate will have a track-record of high achievement and innovative practice who can instill a love of learning by delivering inspirational and exciting lessons. As Head of Department you will lead on all aspects of Science teaching, promoting interest in the subject across the age and ability range up to level 3. An appetite for involvement in developmental work is essential as is a keen desire to share ideas and improve standards to make a real difference.
Coombe Boys’ is a popular and highly successful non-selective 11 – 18 school that is part of the Coombe Academy Trust, based in New Malden, Surrey. Coombe Boys’ has approximately 850 students on roll, including a mixed sixth form. It is partnered with Coombe Girls’ School and Knollmead Primary School. The successful postholder will have the opportunity to be involved with and to lead initiatives across the the trust.
Results at GCSE are above national average for boys and in the Sixth Form are amongst the best in the country. The school was graded Good with Outstanding Leadership & Management in its most recent Ofsted inspection (December 2013).
The school is proud to be innovative and forward-thinking and as part of the Trust has been awarded Teaching School status as well as being an active member of the Independent State School Partnership with King’s College School, Wimbledon.

About Coombe Boys' School
Coombe Boys’ School is a comprehensive secondary school offering a broad and balanced curriculum to local boys aged 11-16. We also have a mixed sixth form run in close collaboration with Coombe Girls’ School. There are approximately 1100 students on roll including the sixth form. The school has held academy status since 2012, as part of the Coombe Academy Trust (CAT) which also incorporates Coombe Girls’ School, Knollmead Primary School, Green Lane Primary & Nursery School, and Robin Hood Primary & Nursery School. The school is based in New Malden close to the A3 and with Motspur Park station within 8 minutes walking distance.
