Job overview

The Hereford Academy is a 11-16 Secondary School located on the edge of the Hereford, close to the beautiful Herefordshire countryside and the Wye Valley AONB. The City of Hereford is growing with a new University, a rapidly developing enterprise zone, new retail & leisure destinations and a thriving independent food & retail sector.

The Hereford Academy is part of the Diocese of Hereford Multi Academy Trust. The Trust and the school have new leadership and governance and are on a journey to rapidly improve outcomes for students.

The school building is modern with first class facilities including a large dedicated science area, extensive sports provision (including a 3G pitch and a 6-court sports hall) and a drama & arts studio.

The Academy community is committed to its core values of Aspiration, Care, Trust, Resilience, and Respect. Our vision is to equip all our students to be well-rounded and caring citizens who will make a positive contribution to society. We do this by providing the best possible education and serving the whole community of all faiths and none.

The Academy’s most recent OFSTED monitoring visit highlighted the improvements evident since the new Head Teacher joined the school in June 2019. Leaders had addressed weaknesses in the curriculum, introduced new assessment procedures and a new PSHE programme which has encouraged pupil’s sense of belonging.

Leaders have been successful in improving behaviour, attitudes and attendance. Inspectors recognised the clear and united purpose shared by the Trust board, governors & school leaders. There is now a persuasive vision and clear expectations of the education the school should provide.

Head of Science

Due to recent changes in SLT roles & responsibilities we require an exceptional individual to lead our Science Team. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our middle leader’s team, providing leadership, direction and management for this key subject.

For the right candidate, the position offers excellent potential for career development and will provide invaluable experience to build a platform for further progression.

As well as excellent communication skills, you must have high expectations of staff and students.  You will consistently model excellent practice and have student achievement and progress at the forefront of your practice.
