Job overview
A rare opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and motivated individual to lead our Social Sciences faculty. This is a varied and interesting job with responsibility across several subject areas including Health and Social Care (Level 3), Childcare (Level 2), Sociology and Psychology. We are seeking an individual with a background in delivering vocational qualifications and the ability to teach Health and Social Care BTEC to level 3.
Kennet was judged “Outstanding” by Ofsted in 2016, a title of which we are very proud and we feel aptly describes our school. However, we think a school is defined by much more than an inspection grade. We believe the collaboration between our, teachers, senior leaders, support staff and students in pursuit of the very best outcomes for our young people is something tangible and visible to all.
This ethos was aptly demonstrated in last year’s KS5 results, which were the best in West Berkshire. Our BTEC subjects are the jewel in this crown and we achieved ALPs grade 3 for these qualifications overall placing us in the top 25% nationally. We seek staff who want to join an aspirational community of teachers and be a part of our success story.
In return we offer:
• outstanding CPD provision and opportunities (with investment around 4 times the national average);
• internal leadership and development programmes;
• exceptional resources and learning environments;
• generous PPA allocation;
• additional benefits such as cycle to work scheme, childcare facilities, leisure facilities on site and an active social committee.
This position is being advertised for September 2018, but an earlier start may be possible by negotiation. Visits and enquiries from prospective candidates are most welcome. If interested, please contact Mr C Ellison (Deputy Headteacher, Curriculum) for more details. Kennet is a highly oversubscribed and ambitious academy which seeks staff who are keen to contribute to the fuller life of the school. Application is by application form.
