Job overview

Full Time, Permanent

Head of Upper School

MPS/UPS + TLR2d (£6,645)

Required from September 2019

Chulmleigh Community College is a high performing, ambitious college well know for exemplary behaviour and conduct. This is a school where pupils want to learn and teachers focus upon high quality teaching. Our results speak for themselves.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, talented and inspiring classroom practitioner able to lead Year 10 and 11 by example. The successful candidate will build on the success of the Academy’s effective Key Stage 4 provision, which continually enhances the quality of challenge, support and achievement of our students.

Our preferred specialist subject would be Maths, but we would be keen to receive applications for this important role from any outstanding teachers.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in the delivery of our ethos and will play a major role as a Middle Leader in the development of all aspects of the College.  Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and challenging students

• Tracking and monitoring their work and attendance to ensure outstanding progress

• Coordinating intervention where appropriate

• Taking a lead with parental engagement

The post will include working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to enhance the learning, progress and well-being of our students. There will be a requirement to work closely with parents.

Applications are welcome from candidates who are able to demonstrate highly developed skills that will ensure our students and all those supporting them are committed to very high standards in keeping with the College’s reputation. The role should be attractive to a colleague who has the ambition to join a senior leadership team.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection, in February 2018, judged that our school remains a ‘good school’. The report recognised that examination results gained by Year 11 Pupils have continued to improve and outcomes have been consistently above the national average across subjects. We are delighted with the outstanding +0.51 P8 success achieved by our students in the June 2018 examinations.

As employers we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and in that regard have appropriate policies and procedures.  All staff undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and interviews will include questions about safeguarding children.

Closing date: 10 am Tuesday, 19 March2019

Interview date: Wednesday, 27 March 2019
