The Governors of The Portsmouth Grammar School invite applications for the role of Head from September 2018, following the appointment of Mr James Priory to Tonbridge School after ten years of exceptional leadership.
The Portsmouth Grammar School (PGS) is a leading co-educational day school for pupils aged 2½-18, located in the historic heart of the city. There are currently 1,500 pupils benefitting from the School’s high academic standards, broad co-curricular programme and exceptional pastoral provision. Through an inspiring and nurturing education that celebrates every individual and emphasises diversity, PGS ensures that each pupil is happy, successful and equipped not only for where they will be at 18, but where they aspire to be at 25.

Founded in 1732, The Portsmouth Grammar School (PGS) is a co-educational independent day school for pupils aged 2½ - 18 years, situated in the heart of Portsmouth, Hampshire. ISI Report 2022
During an ISI Inspection in late 2022 both the achievement of the pupils, including their academic development and the personal development of the pupils were found to be excellent - the highest possible classification. The Inspection also looked at the School’s compliance with the regulatory standards and requirements. PGS met all the standards required.
