A new build for Alness Academy has recently been granted planning permission.  Groundworks have now commenced and the school building due for handover by end March 2020.

The scope of the project is a replacement secondary school with sports facility and associated playing fields, being built on the existing Academy site.  The building will comprise a two storey main teaching block, with kitchen, dining and assembly spaces; and a sports/community building housing a 6 lane 25m swimming pool, 4 court games hall and gymnasium.  Outdoor facilities will also include 2 new 3G artificial pitches and informal playing fields, a learning garden and a greenhouse are included, alongside the retained rugby pitch.

The new school is being built for a roll of 600 pupils, reflecting forecast growth within the area.

Two new 3G artificial pitches and informal playing fields, a learning garden and a greenhouse are included, alongside the retained rugby pitch. The school offers full wifi capability throughout the building and the surrounding school grounds, allowing for a real variety of learning areas.
