Teaching ServiceQueanbeyan High School is a future focused comprehensive high school with a growing enrolment, currently 545 students located on Ngunnawal lands. Recent refurbishment of learning spaces reflects the latest in research on best practice pedagogy.
Our Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander students (13.5%) are supported by an Aboriginal Learning Centre with strong support from our partners in the local AECG. 21% Language Background Other than English Students from multiple nationalities are supported by staff and programs targeting English skills for academic success. Eight support classes including IM, IO, IS, Autism, ED and BD are integrated in to mainstream settings.
High expectation relationships underpin school planning, communication and collaborative pedagogical practices to ensure every teacher and every student improves each year through personalised learning with an emphasis on literacy, numeracy and differentiation. Future focused pedagogies and the relationship with the physical learning environment and technology is supported with enrichment and extension opportunities for staff and students. Building positive behaviour for success ensures all students are known and valued. Graduates are future ready with a genuine focus on building positive mindsets and skills to effectively adapt to change. The school continues to foster collaborative partnerships with local schools, tertiary education and training settings, Industry and community groups and services.
The position Head Teacher of Teaching and learning is responsible for supervising operations of our learning centre staff including Learning and Support, Library, EaLD, SLSO’s and Careers to strategically target resources to positively impact literacy, numeracy and engagement outcomes.
