Position Information 

Situated between the ocean and the lake in Darkinjung country, The Entrance Campus is the senior campus of Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College. It is established as a more adult working and learning environment offering multiple pathways to the HSC and beyond. Our campus consists of 800 Year 11 and 12 students from diverse backgrounds, including 8% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Our campus also has a large support unit 7-12.  We are part of a multi-campus collegiate with two middle years 7-10 campuses (Berkeley Vale and Tumbi Umbi Campuses) and a proud partner of Tuggerah Lakes Learning Community, including the seven partner primary schools. Our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships underpin our school culture and motto "New Horizons". They engage students, staff and the community in working together to develop confident, socially aware and involved young adults who can make significant contributions to the broader community. The campus offers the broadest range of subject choices and pathways to the HSC or Year 12 equivalent on the Central Coast. Our student population is diverse in terms of cultural background, educational experience and future aspirations and our college prides itself on its ability to meet such diverse needs.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

1. Successful teaching and collaborative leadership experience with a demonstrated capacity to initiate improvement in student wellbeing outcomes and lead staff in the implementation of wellbeing platforms that assist students to connect, thrive and succeed in a rapidly changing world.

2. Highly visible, approachable and engaging leader with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills who has demonstrated experience developing and embedding procedures and practices that maximise support for student learning, wellbeing, engagement and success.

3. Demonstrated capacity to build authentic relationships with the Aboriginal community, and external agencies to build educational partnerships to inclusively support all students to thrive in their chosen pathway.

4. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a faculty with a culture of high expectations and evidence-informed practices, including Learning Support, and contribute to whole-school programs.

 

  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm full vaccination status prior to the Department of Education finalising the appointment of the candidates and entry on duty.
