Sydney Grammar School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced educators to take up the position of Headmaster of Edgecliff Preparatory School.

One of the oldest schools in Australia, Sydney Grammar School is a secular independent school that offers boys a broad liberal education.  Edgecliff is one of the School’s two Preparatory campuses. 

With over 300 boys, Edgecliff is characterised by a culture that values learning in all spheres, be that in the classroom, on the sports field or in a music lesson, and embraces diversity in ideas, interests and people.

Reporting to the Headmaster of Sydney Grammar School, the Headmaster of Edgecliff Preparatory School will be a high calibre primary educator, bringing warmth, empathy, strong communication skills and intellectual liveliness. He or she will provide students and staff with opportunities to flourish, leading a School which continues to evolve while being true to its values.

About Sydney Grammar School - Edgecliff Preparatory School

Sydney Grammar School is an all-boys, selective, all-through school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 3-18. The all-through school is situated across three campuses in Paddington, which houses children from K to Year 6, St Ives, for Preschool to Year 6, and central Sydney, from Year 7 to Year 12. There is approximately 1,841 pupils on record across all three sites.

Sydney Grammar School was founded in 1854 by an Act of Parliament and opened in 1857. It is a member of the Association of Heads of independent Schools of Australia, the Junior Schools Heads Association of Australia, the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference, as well as being a founding member of the Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools of New South Wales.

The all-through school boasts modern learning facilities, including a well-stocked library, modern technology and computer suites, large, well-equipped classrooms, subject-specific teaching rooms for subjects including art, music and drama, science laboratories, sports courts and large, expansive outside grounds.

Curriculum

Sydney Grammar School offers a broad, balanced curriculum with the desire of giving all students a liberal education. The all-through school offers a wide range of elective subjects for older pupils to specialise in their final years of class, which include Latin, Chinese, Classical Greek and Personal Development. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are also organised for pupils to get involved in outside of the classroom and gain new skills. These include sports clubs, music  lessons, drama class and army cadets.
