Job overview

Yewdale Primary School, Carlisle
Pay scale:  L15-L21

Yewdale Primary is a happy, busy and successful school set in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Carlisle. With extensive grounds, well-equipped buildings and a Good judgement at our last inspection (July 2018), Yewdale provides a very high quality of education for all our pupils and a stretching, supportive professional environment for staff.

We are now looking for a new Headteacher who can build on our achievements and continue the school’s improvement journey. We are working to consolidate good performance in core subject areas, while expanding and diversifying our wider curriculum offer. Strong candidates will therefore bring both leadership experience, a good grasp of how data can enable us to make sustained improvement, and a passion for enrichment and the wider curriculum. You’ll be a visible presence within and outside the school, connecting with parents and the wider community to promote our shared achievements and encouraging positive outcomes for pupils.

Applicants will have a confident and supportive leadership style, and will be able to quickly and credibly communicate their vision. Professional excellence must be underpinned by a warm, personable approach, respect for the individual, and the ability to build positive relationships with staff and with parents. You may already be an experienced headteacher, or this could be your first headship if you can show that you have planned and led sustained improvement in your current role.

Yewdale Primary School is part of Cumbria Education Trust – a growing multi-academy trust which currently comprises three secondary and six primary academies – and the successful candidate will be part of CET’s Leadership Team. We are committed to building an exceptional learning environment for all of the students and pupils who attend our schools, and a supportive, collaborative working environment which enables professional development and facilitates great outcomes. Our vision is to enable every young person to reach their potential and achieve the success they deserve by providing an innovative and inspiring learning experience.

Visit www.cet-leadership.co.uk  to find out more or contact Raymond Kelly or David Gooda at Navigate NDC for a confidential discussion on 01625 800862. Closing date: 10am, 20 April 2020.

Cumbria Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we will check the suitability of staff to work with children. Applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and overseas police checks (where applicable).  Please see CET’s Safeguarding and Recruitment Policies for further details.
