The ideal candidate will need to have the ability to lead a dedicated staff, very enthusiastic children and parents, who place great importance on the education of their children in partnership with a hugely supportive Governing Body.

Essential to the post is the ability to work closely with children, parents and the Governors with understanding and to be approachable, encouraging and visible. In a local community of strong independent schools, St Wystan’s School and Nursery is well known as a high quality educational establishment.

Recent inspection reports are available to read on the school’s website so that prospective candidates can gain an initial insight into the structure, ethos and performance of St Wystan’s School and Nursery to date.

The successful candidate will provide inspirational leadership with regard to strategic and day-to-day management, teaching and learning, pastoral care, social development of children and the well being and performance of staff. In order to achieve this, the Governors would expect the Headteacher to lead the school in the following main broad areas:

• Protecting and promoting the strong reputation of St Wystan’s School and Nursery.

• Agreeing with the Governing Body and implementing the school’s vision and strategy.

• Ensuring the continued success of St Wystan’s through the retention and acquisition of pupils.

• Maintaining and improving even further the high academic standards, with particular regard to value-added success and achievement. This includes preparation of children leaving at 11+, most of whom achieve entrance to leading independent schools.

• Providing the highest quality leadership at all levels including children, parents, staff and Governors.

In September 2020 we were delighted to become part of the Repton School family, giving us the benefits of being part of a larger organisation, whilst allowing us to maintain our individual ethos and identity. We are proud of our strong links with many local secondary Independent and State schools. Our children have an excellent reputation for securing scholarship offers and securing first choice secondary schools at a time in which a child’s true academic potential can be accurately predicted and talents in other areas acknowledged.
