Aurora Severnside is a bespoke new school for 11-16 year olds with SEMH needs, having taken the best elements of a mainstream school and the best elements of a special school to create an environment where young people can achieve their own goals and thrive - be that with GSCEs or a vocational route.

The main purpose of the role:

We are looking for an inspirational and engaging Headteacher who shares our commitment and vision in providing an ambitious and therapeutic, person-centred learning environment for our students with SEMH needs.  

As our Headteacher, you will provide vision, leadership and direction for the school to the highest professional standard whist maintaining its success and providing a high quality of education which reflects Aurora vision and values

Key duties:

  • Develop and deliver a cohesive and integrated vision and strategy for the school, which has safeguarding at its core, achieves and drives status as an outstanding school and is in line with Aurora vision, strategy and values.
  • Ensure the needs of the students’ educational and pastoral needs are met in the most appropriate manner and to the highest standards.
  • Ensure that all statutory, regulatory and compliance requirements/standards are met and that the school is rated as Good – Outstanding.
  • Deliver trust based relationships that enable positive partnership relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the staff team and ensure they are treated consistently within company policies and guidelines and are provided with opportunities for personal development as well as effective training to deliver their individual roles.
  • Create a safe, healthy and inspiring environment for all.

 

Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.


Skills and Qualifications

Experience

Successful candidate are likely to demonstrate the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status with further professional qualification in a relevant area. Candidates with Head Teacher qualification (such as NPQH) or a willingness to gain such a qualification preferred.
  • Experience of working as a senior leader within an SEN environment
  • A clear understanding of Ofsted frameworks and Safeguarding legislation in relation to independent schools.
  • Quality assurance experience (such as lesson observations and performance management)
  • Team management experience.
  • Superb communication and stakeholder management skills
