Our school, previously known as Erith School has had a challenging history   - changes in leadership, disappointing results and declining student numbers tell only part of the story.  Transforming performance in such a context takes time and significant effort – it requires more than just one leader.  It needs a fundamentally different approach.  

Re-named King Henry School in September 2018, we have now become part of a MAT with Townley Grammar School, a high performing local school with an exceptional reputation.  Having formed the MAT in September 2018, we are working on an ambitious improvement plan.    This is not a short term fix.  Transforming the aspirations of our young people and our community takes time.  Having previously been let down, many have limited expectations.  

We now need an exceptional school leader who is driven, ambitious and a champion for social mobility and equality.  You will lead us on a journey of improvement, raise aspirations, expectations and standards.  You will be able to draw on the expertise across the Trust, in key areas where it is needed so that no student is left behind, whatever their background.  

At the heart of our approach is the development of character values within our young people.  This is more than getting great examination results (although this is part of it).  It involves developing in our young people the personal characteristics and values to be a twenty first century student confident in any sphere and ready to take their place in the world.   

This should be seen as a long term commitment from the School and the successful candidate.  We are not looking for the “finished article.”  We are interested in attitude, commitment and potential.
