Job overview

Whether you are an experienced headteacher relishing a new challenge, or a leader working towards your first headship you may be just what we are looking for.

Due to the retirement of our current headteacher, the governors, pupils and staff at Nields JI &N School are looking to appoint a visionary. We want an inspirational leader, highly motivated and energetic, with senior leadership experience at a primary school level and who is passionate in continuing the growth and development of our happy and welcoming school. We are looking for a headteacher who is compassionate and caring with a sense of humour.

We are a school whose motto is “Reach for the stars and fly to the moon”, where pupils aim to achieve their personal best, within a safe, enriching and engaging, learning environment. The new head will be working with a dedicated, cohesive and proud team of staff, who are ambitious to see our children meeting their full potential, whilst embracing and cultivating the current good practices and strengths within the school.

Alongside the governing body, the headteacher will provide leadership and direction for the school and ensure it is managed and organised to meet our vision and mission statement. As a governing body it is important to us that our head receives continual professional development.

The headteacher will be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning, the internal organisation of the school, the effective control of the school’s finances and for leading and managing staff.

You will have a demonstrable record of excellent organisational skills and good practice within the classroom environment. In addition, having the ability to forge strong relationships with pupils, parents, local schools and community networks is essential.

If you have the very highest standards and expectations for yourself, and the pupils and staff around you, a passion for learning and developing children to achieve their potential, then our school could be the right one for you.

In return we can offer you:

  • an established welcoming school that sits in the heart of a close-knit community. We are in a rural setting close to excellent motorway networks;
  • the opportunity to lead and manage a “good” school (Ofsted June 2018);
  • friendly, confident and enthusiastic children who are keen to learn;
  • a dedicated, experienced, professional and caring staff team;
  • a supportive, challenging and enthusiastic governing body and an active Parent, Teachers Association (PTA) and
  • supportive parents and carers, whose involvement is actively encouraged and valued.

Visits to school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please contact Mrs Johnstone at the school office for an application pack and to arrange an appointment for a visit on 01484 842154
