Job overview

Together we enjoy learning, achieving, sharing and praying.
Let Jesus’ love shine through in everything we do.

The governors are seeking to appoint a dynamic, forward-thinking, approachable and enthusiastic practising Catholic leader who will continue to build on the recent improvement of our Academy. St Aidan’s was identified as inadequate by Ofsted in February 2017 and placed in Special Measures.  However, HMI now state that the school has made ‘rapid and significant progress’. The governors will be looking for a Headteacher to continue this development and drive the school quickly towards being good and, ultimately, outstanding.

We are looking for a new Headteacher who has:

  • a clear vision of excellence in Catholic primary education
  • leadership skills of the highest quality, and who is able to motivate, inspire and support a committed staff
  • outstanding classroom-practitioner skills, with a secure  knowledge of the curriculum
  • high expectations of pupils, their progress, achievement and behaviour, and who will encourage a supportive and positive environment in which the children are fully focused on their learning
  • experience at senior leadership level with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • direct experience of headship (governors will consider a confident senior leader who can demonstrate  their skill set and where their capabilities match the role)
  • the vision to promote and enhance our Catholic ethos in partnership with the parish and local community
  • a proven track record in delivering school improvement.

In return we can offer you:

  • an academy committed to maintaining its excellent Catholic ethos
  • a staff committed to high-quality teaching and learning and a culture where everyone is valued and encouraged to succeed
  • a dedicated leadership team, collegiality of staff and a strong complement of Catholic teachers
  • supportive parents and local community who are keen to support the academy on its journey to outstanding
  • a location in a vibrant multicultural community in Redbridge
  • a supportive and encouraging governing body.
  • the support of a newly formed MAT structure and the opportunity to influence this at its formation.

You are warmly invited to visit our academy.  Please contact the school on 020 8590 5223

Application forms and further details from Lucy Farnum, email lfarnum.317@lgflmail.org

Closing date:  Monday 1st October 2018 (noon)
Interviews to be held at the school on Monday 15th October 2018
