Job overview

Due to retirement of the current postholder, the Wardle Academy Trust is looking to appoint a new dynamic headteacher who will:-  

a) lead on continuing the progress made by the current headteacher; 

b) oversee the development of Wardle Academy to ensure that it takes a leading role at the heart of  a strong trust;  

c) work closely with the CEO and trustees to determine the future direction and priorities of the school.  

Wardle Academy is part of the Wardle Academy Trust which currently consists of four schools situated in the West Pennines.  It is an oversubscribed secondary school of 1220 students serving the Littleborough, Smithy Bridge and Smallbridge communities close to the West Pennines.  It is located ten minutes from Junction 21, M62 and is just off the A58 between Rochdale and Littleborough.  

The successful candidate will: 

  • Be suitably qualified 
  • Have very recent senior leadership experience in a school as either a headteacher or deputy headteacher  
  • Be a team player who can lead and motivate both staff and students 
  • Experienced in developing teaching and learning or curriculum initiatives across schools 
  • Have experience of leading teams that have positively impacted upon school improvement 
  • Have a good knowledge of robust effective assessment systems
