Job overview

After 30 years at the school, our Head Teacher is retiring. The Governors seek to appoint a new leader to build on the current success and to maintain the caring and holistic ethos of the school.

Our Church of England school serves the village of Swinderby and its surrounding communities. The school currently has 82 children on the roll aged between 4 and 11 years. With several new housing developments underway or planned in the locality, we expect growth in pupil numbers, which will be manageable in the current school premises.

As outlined in our mission statement, our intention is that all children, regardless of language, faith or culture, should feel valued as individuals. As a school with a Christian Foundation, we are guided by Christian values.

The school community is proud to have achieved a ‘Good’ rating in the recent Ofsted inspection (Dec 2017) and to have come 4th in the county in the recently published D of E Performance tables for KS2. In addition, the school provides a truly holistic education with many extracurricular activities available for the pupils.

At the recent visit Ofsted reported the pride that the children have in their school and that they were extremely polite and well mannered. Feedback from parents was also positive.

Swinderby is located on the Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border close to Lincoln, Newark and accessible to Nottingham via the A46. The East Coast mainline and A1 are close by. The area enjoys good value housing and excellent options for secondary education.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Headteacher to build on the success of the current Head and lead the school into an exciting future.

The school occupies pleasant, well-maintained buildings in the centre of the village close by the village church.

Our ideal candidate-

Will have leadership experience and be able to work collaboratively with the staff team to nurture effective teaching and learning.

Will build on the current success and lead the school from Good to Outstanding in the future.

Will communicate effectively and build long lasting partnerships with parents, governors and the wider community.

What we can offer you-

A warm welcome from the whole school community.

 Experienced, committed and enthusiastic staff.

 A supportive, proactive governing body.

Respectful, well-behaved pupils who are eager to learn.

A good track record of performance combined with opportunities for progress - a school where you can really make your mark and feel valued.
