Job overview

Could you see yourself as our new Headteacher?

Rugby High School is a consistently oversubscribed, highly successful, 11-18, four form entry, grammar school. We are a single sex girls’ school in KS3 and 4 but we have a co-educational Sixth Form. We are a small, friendly school (with 873 students on roll, 275 of whom are in the Sixth Form), with a genuine family feel.

The school has benefited from the freedoms that ‘Outstanding’ schools were given to expand. The school is currently a single academy trust. Although we value tradition, we are also forward thinking. We don’t just want our students to have great examination results we want them to be independent, to have good social skills, to be confident communicators, able to share their knowledge, ideas and experiences. At this school, the students don’t just learn about the world: they learn about themselves.

The school’s motto Ascensiones in corde suo disposuit can be translated as “she has set heights in her heart”. Based on care and respect, our ethos is central to what we do and allows for our students to appreciate and to respect others. We want all of our students to be ambitious, not just in terms of what they can do for themselves but in terms of what they can do for others. We are united by our love of learning and our desire to use our talents to make the world a better place.

We are now looking for an inspirational and exceptional leader to take up the role of Headteacher. You will have a proven record of extensive senior leadership experience.

With outstanding leadership skills you will sustain and further develop an ambitious yet respectful culture that encourages high expectations for all and others. Your clear and committed strategic vision, combined with your excellent communication skills, will inspire, motivate and lead all key stakeholders forward for further success.

We are rightly proud of our rich heritage, but we are also an innovative and forward thinking learning community. As our new Headteacher, you will have the expertise, drive and vision to help embed the exciting plans that are in place for the school’s future development.

This is a rare and unique opportunity to lead a diverse, highly ambitious but caring learning community, which is committed to delivering the very best education to all our students.

If you believe you possess these qualities to take on this exciting challenge, then the governing body would be delighted to hear from you.

If you would like an informal and confidential discussion about this post and to find out how to apply please contact Chris Gartner at Hays Leadership Appointments on 07595646645 or at chris.gartner@hays.com

Closing deadline for applications: Monday 19th of November at 9:00 am
