Job overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic teacher to teach Health and Social Care and Sociology.

The Health and Social Care department is well established at St. Charles and the successful candidate will join a team of four practitioners. The post will require some A level Sociology teaching (AQA)

The department offers Health and Social Care at level 2 and 3 and will be moving to the RQF framework in September 2020. The department works with 150 students across this curriculum offer.  Student outcomes are strong and above sixth form college benchmarks.  Throughout the BTEC course, students will develop their exam and assignment writing skills.  As part of the course, students will take part in a variety of activities including visits, group assignments, presentations and observations.  A large amount of research work is required and students are expected to use a number of information sources such as textbooks, the internet, TV and newspapers.

All students complete a one day work placement alongside there course to reinforce the student’s knowledge and understanding of health and social care settings.

Some students complete the programme to directly enter health services, but an increasing population are progressing to university to study related degrees.
