This position is to start as soon as possible, however we are willing to wait for the right candidate.
You will relish the opportunities that are available to you. At ARA we have a 3 form entry Primary Phase, 6 form entry Secondary Phase, 5 form entry Post 16 and an Adult Learning Centre. The role is to manage and deliver first aid on a daily basis for the pupils of the Academy, this is an all through academy and much of your time will be spent looking after the Primary Phase pupils, however there will be crossover with the Secondary Phase pupils, as well as being actively involved in the promotion of health throughout the Academy, and within our local community of parents. The role involves being one of two key persons to manage anaphylaxis and ensure that medication in the Academy is up to date. Maintaining records of pupils that visit the welfare room is a daily task as is liaising and sharing information directly with the relevant pastoral team. The role also involves co-ordinating immunisation programmes for pupils and staff.
It is essential that applicants hold the Current First Aid at Work certificate (3 day course) along with GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. It is also essential that applicants have an excellent understanding of the emotional and medical issues that impact on the lives of Primary & Secondary Phase pupils. The role is to work Monday to Friday from 8.30am until 4pm. This is a term-time only position plus Professional Development days which are usually at the beginning of each term.
