Higher Level Teaching Assistant

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you’ll have a key role to play in the development of our young people at our brand new school. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a completely bespoke refurbished building. Our brand new School in Hinckley is an independent day school catering for 35 young people with SEMH and complex needs. The School will benefit from excellent staffing ratios and small class sizes, ensuring that every pupil will receive a highly personalised curriculum and is treated as an individual. We are part of the Witherslack Group, a highly successful and expanding national SEN Group with a ‘no limits’ approach to learning. Our HLTA work to boost self-esteem and encourage acceptance from others, you’ll also support the teacher by monitoring young people’s work. As your skills are well developed, you will have additional duties, such as helping with planning meetings, working without supervision and liaising with teachers to devise complementary learning activities. As an experienced Teaching Assistant with your NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and HLTLA qualifications, you’ll have up-to-date knowledge of welfare and safety practice within education. You’ll also have the ability to work to specific goals with children, and a gift for building relationships with staff and pupils alike. Emotionally resilient and able to motivate students, you’ll enjoy being part of a team but work well independently too. Please note that you may be expected to attend meetings outside normal school hours. For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond.
