About CENMAC 

CENMAC is a team of specialists (including Advisory Teachers, Advisory Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), an Advisory Occupational Therapist and Higher Level Teaching Assistants) who support children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) to access the curriculum and/or communicate using assistive technology.  

Located at Charlton Park Academy in Charlton in South East London, CENMAC is a unique service offering assessments, reviews and the loan of assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). 

We work across the Greater London area with children and young people aged 2 to 25 with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP).  

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (AAC)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work as a member of the CENMAC Team at Charlton Park Academy as a specialist HLTA in Speech and Language Therapy, Communication and Assistive Technologies. The position will provide high quality support for CENMAC as part of the Academy in all aspects of its work.  

Job Purpose

The HLTA will assist our team of Advisory Teachers and SLTs in the implementation, training and ongoing support to the wide range of students, staff and families to ensure students reach their full potential in their use of CENMAC assistive technology and communication equipment.  

This position would suit someone who is highly motivated and keen to support children and young people with special educational needs (SEN). This includes students with SEND, EAL and Higher Learning Potential.

The position would suit someone who has an interest in assistive technology and a willingness to travel to schools across the Greater London area.

Everyone working in or for our academy shares an objective to help keep children and young people safe so that they may learn and develop in our school setting. The Academy operates a policy of restricting unsupervised access to students to only those who have been correctly vetted.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.  

Salary

Salary will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the person applying.

Charlton Park Academy is a special academy for students with complex, low incidence special educational needs. We are a well established and very experienced provider of quality specialised education provision and cater for young people with complex conditions based in Charlton, South East London.

We have friendly and experienced staff who are familiar with working with a wide range of young people with special educational needs – most of our staff have specialist qualifications and experience. We train and mentor all of our staff continuously to improve upon our standards of provision.
