Heartlands High School is a new mixed comprehensive 11-16 school that opened in September 2010. Popular and oversubscribed within the local community the school will take 1080 students when full with 25 places in a specialist Autism provision. Our recent Ofsted described the school as a “Leaders have been able to cultivate an ethos of focusing on the needs of individual pupils. Pupils irrespective of their starting points, receive a range of support. Many pupils make very good progress.’’ (Ofsted 2016)
We are looking for outstanding and talented HLTA for Visual and Performing Arts who will influence the development of an outstanding Learning Support Department. HLTAs will be asked to support students with special educational needs, EMTAG and EAL, or who are gifted and talented, Looked After, vulnerable or underachieving; and to ensure their inclusion in the classroom and school community. Building relationships with students, parents and teachers forms an essential part of these roles. HLTAs play a key role in inclusion and will lead some groups. They will form an important part of our dynamic faculty teams leading active learning and helping all students to make outstanding progress.
The successful candidates will be:
· Supporting teaching staff within the faculty in the planning and delivery of lessons.
· Providing small group support for students in music, drama and art lessons.
· Supporting in the assessment of students in line with Faculty procedures.
· Setting targets and providing feedback to students.
· Promoting good student behaviour for learning, helping to resolve conflict and encourage responsibility.
· Building the confidence of students to engage and achieve in their lessons.
· Taking responsibility for at least one Faculty club or enrichment activity.
· Provide flexible support on school trips and off-site learning.
· Supporting the preparation and rehearsals for school theatrical productions and performances.

Support and development:
At Heartlands, we use School IP to track and support training and ongoing CPD. Depending on your need and level of experience, you will be placed on a training pathway.
