Job overview

Role Purpose
The Parent and Family Support Service, Tower Hamlets Holiday Childcare team provides high quality care for children, during the school holiday. The service also offers crèche support for parents and family events. We are on the search for highly motivated, experienced childcare workers who are passionate about providing high quality, inclusive childcare for children aged 3-13 years.

The holiday provision takes place in Tower Hamlets schools and operates during the school holidays, (excluding the Christmas break). You will be required to work at least 4 weeks a year, though work is available for each scheduled scheme:

  • February half term (1 week)
  • Easter (2 weeks)
  • May half term (1 week)
  • Summer holidays (4/5 weeks)
  • October half term (1 week)

This is an exciting time to join the holiday childcare team. We had two Ofsted inspections in 2019 with positive reports. The team has also achieved quality in play status in 2020.

Key Responsibilities
Are you forward thinking and creative? This is the opportunity for you to join us on a mission to deliver high quality care for children. You will be expected to work as part of the holiday childcare team, carrying out work relating to holiday schemes, crèches, and related matters. The nature and demands of the service requires you to be flexible and capable of supporting other areas of the team’s work when required.

Requirements

  • The posts require minimum NVQ Level 2 childcare qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a childcare setting or with children and families.

Please note that you will not be shortlisted unless you meet the above requirements.

These posts are exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
Tower Hamlets Councils are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Additional Information
Interviews are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 29 July 2020.

Successful candidates will be required to bring recruitment documents to support the recruitment process on Thursday 30 July 2020 between 09:00 – 11:00am.

Please note both the above dates are fixed and successful candidates must be available to complete the recruitment process on the Thursday.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted on Wednesday 22 July 2020 to attend an interview.
