About St Patrick’s College Shorncliffe

St. Patrick's College, Shorncliffe is an independent, Roman Catholic day school for boys in Year 5 to 12, situated on the waterfront in Shorncliffe, a northern suburb of Brisbane. The school has a population of 1,295 students, supported by 106 teaching staff. 

The college was established in 1952, with Four Christian Brothers, Principal Br Coffey and 172 students. The oldest building in the college was purchased back in 1951 by Father O’Rouke who had the intention of creating a school for young men. Known as the Morven building, it was constructed in 1864 and was once the official summer residence for the governor of Queensland.

The college features modern classrooms complete with data projectors, specialised teaching and learning areas, a chapel, a multipurpose indoor complex, a professional performing arts centre, a synthetic all-weather oval, tennis courts, basketball courts, a gymnasium with a fully equipped weights room, a pool, specialised music facilities and extensive playing fields.

Curriculum

St Patrick’s College follows a pedagogical framework based on Robert Marzano's Art and Science of Teaching while also adhering to the Australian Curriculum. Students in Years 5 and 6 have access to specialist teachers for design technology, LOTE (Indonesian), drama, visual art, physical education and music. From Year 9, students have access to elective subjects, and senior students have the option to complete TAFE certified Certificate Courses or they can undertake subjects that lead to university studies.
