Housemaster, St Dunstan's
Ampleforth is one of Europe’s foremost Catholic boarding schools, committed to all round excellence and academic ambition. This post will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to join us in working with students to cultivate learning as an attitude, a value for life.
We seek to appoint a practising Roman Catholic Housemaster to start in September 2018, however, a January 2019 may be considered for the right candidate.
The Housemaster represents pastoral support for all students within the House and is responsible for all aspects of the welfare and formation of the students in their care. This is a demanding and immensely rewarding role where no two days are ever the same.
The successful candidate will have a PGCE or equivalent; any relevant subject offered by Ampleforth College will be acceptable. Housemasters teach a reduced timetable of about half, and many Housemistresses and Housemasters contribute to games or co-curricular activities.
We are seeking an experienced teacher who is interested in the formation of young people and in developing a culture of delight in learning within the house.
The position comes with family accommodation and a range of benefits.
The closing date for applications will be Tuesday, 5 June 2018 at 3pm.
Interviews are expected to take place on Monday, 11 and Tuesday 12 June 2018.
The Ampleforth Abbey Trust, St Laurence Education Trust and its Schools are committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people. They expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and will ensure that all recruitment and selection practices and procedures reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to checks by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) along with other relevant employment checks.
